All of the judges on our roster were required to go through an in-depth pre-screening process. The screening begins with our team reviewing applicants' resumes. We look for candidates with experience in the professional performance and/or teaching industry, as well as experience behind the judge's table.
Next, the applicants selected to proceed to the next step are asked to watch a sample routine and provide verbal critiques for 3 styles of dance (Lyrical, Tap, Jazz). We look for informative, constructive, elaborate critiques with use of correct terminology, and an understanding of abilities for all levels of dancers.

Thanks to our intensive pre-screening process, we test and challenge our judges to make sure they can give constructive critiques in all majority competitive styles. IDA JUDGES TRAINING!
We offer a professional online training course exclusive to IDA Judges! Our in-depth judge's training provides detailed information on how to prepare and what to expect on a judging event. We also discuss critiquing, scoring, range + a Q&A with the creator of IDA! Our judges will always be professional, experienced and prepped for all events!

NEW! - BACKGROUND CHECKS!
An important and necessary new feature we are implementing at IDA is background checks for all hired IDA Judges. As our dance industry continues to evolve, we feel that adding this additional layer of security to our contractors will protect the dancers, their families, and your business. Background checks will be supplied and covered by IDA and included in all IDA Memberships for the 2022 Season.
